Latest data from the General Statistics Office shows that Industrial Manufacturing Index in May rose 6.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
Among the industries, mining saw an increase of 5.9 percent; industrial processing and manufacturing surged 6.8 percent; production and distribution of power soared 8.1 percent; and water supply and wastewater treatment hiked by 9.3 percent.
In the first five months of this year, Industrial Manufacturing Index was estimated at 5.2 percent year-on-year. Although it was at 6.2 percent in the same period last year, as the figure tends to increase each month.
An increase of 5.2 percent in the first five months was reportedly contributed by mining, processing and manufacturing, production and distribution of power, and water supply and wastewater treatment industries.
Five-month Industrial Manufacturing Index of Ho Chi Minh City rose 4.5 percent year-on-year; of Dong Nai Province 6.9 percent; of Binh Duong Province 6.4 percent; of Hanoi City 3.9 percent; of Hai Phong 2.6 percent; of Bac Ninh Province 5.7 percent; of Vinh Phuc Province 16.4 percent; of Can Tho City 7.6 percent; of Hai Duong Province 9.4 percent; and of Da Nang City 10.4 percent.
