Lanta Viet, the Vietnam affiliate of the now defunct Russian based travel company Lanta Tour Voyage, has cleared all dues owed to 17 resorts in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan, said Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the Tourism Association in the province on Feb. 11.
Khoa added that besides clearing dues of up to VND10 billion to the resort owners, all the 309 Russian tourists sent by Lanta Tour to Vietnam last month had been safely sent to their home country from Binh Thuan Province.
After Lanta Tour Voyage Company abruptly ceased operations on Jan. 27, many resorts in Mui Ne continued to accommodate the stranded tourists and create favourable conditions for them to return back to their home country, said Khoa.
He added that the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will join local travel companies and hotels to participate in the Moscow Travel and Tourism Exhibition, a leading tourism event in Russia, from March 21-24.
Additionally, the tourism sector will host sports and cultural activities, and invite Russian news agencies and travel operators to the venue to further promote Binh Thuan Province to future potential Russian tourists.
