Annually, Ho Chi Minh City provides vocational training to 12,000 laborers from countryside. However, in the first five months of 2017, just around 3,008 laborers were trained vocationally in seven districts and five communes.

Similarly, Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee in Binh Chanh Commune Vo Le Phi Hung said that most laborers desire to earn money soon by working in construction sites rather than learning a job because they are bread winners; therefore, they are afraid of suffering loss of earning during learning time.
Mr. Vu added that the commune planned to provide vocational training and employment to 281 laborers. Yet since the beginning of the year, just 33 people have registered for vocational training with ten people learn agricultural jobs.
Very a few people in countryside districts want to study farming. Head of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Foreign Affairs in Binh Chanh District Nguyen Thi Liem said farming, breeding ornamental fish and planting vegetables and orchid all are conducted by old people who agree to learn about techniques while young laborers wish to be workers in industrial parks.
Hoc Mon District is successful in opening mobile vocational courses. Teachers with equipment will open class in laborers’ houses. For years, the district has trained 55 babysitters for private and public schools in the district.
This year the district continues to training babysitter because the demand increases. 310 people will be trained to be drivers and 670 people will be taught to work in enterprises in the district.
Deputy Head of People’s Committee in Binh Chanh Ms. Phan Thi Cam Nhung said that local authority will liaise with enterprises on demand of employment to open proper courses.
Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affair Nguyen Van Lam said that vocational courses should be tailored as per enterprises’ demand. Moreover, local administrators should find out enterprises’ demand to introduce to unemployed people.
