Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph was taken in Tay Ninh Province’s Trang Bang in 1972, depicting 9-year-old Phan Thi Kim Phuc screaming and running down the road naked after a napalm attack. Then the photographer took Phuc and other children injured that day to the Cu Chi Hospital.
The photographer said he visited her family a week after the attack and Phuc, who now lives in Canada with her family, affectionately calls him 'Uncle Nick”.
The picture changed the girl’s life and gave her many chances to travel around the world to give speeches about her life and experience of "strong in the face of pain" and how compassion and love helped her heal. In 1994, Kim Phuc was named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
The photo will be displayed at the museum from May 6-18.
