PM requests to take measures to ensure security and safety for tourists

After the incident of a vehicle overturning due to floods at the Cu Lan tourist area in Lac Duong District of the Central Highland Province of Lam Dong, PM Pham Minh Chinh has just signed an official telegram asking to ensure the safety and security of tourists.

Flooding battered the Cu Lan tourist area in Lac Duong District, while four Korean tourists were experiencing the jeep service across a stream at the Cu Lan village tourist area; as a result, the Korean travelers died as the vehicle was swept away by a flash flood. Moreover, one Vietnamese person got injured.

The Prime Minister sent his deepest condolences to the relatives of the victims' families. He requested the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to continue implementing necessary work to quickly overcome the consequences of the incident.

Investigation agencies were asked to carry out a probe into the incident clarifying individual and organization’s responsibility. The government must issue tough punishment to violators in accordance with the present law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should work with the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and relevant agencies to support funeral arrangements for victims in accordance with the law while the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism must handle consequences of the above incident as well as instruct localities to strengthen measures to ensure security and safety for tourists.

Following the incident that killed four Korean tourists, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province today announced that it has requested GBQ Company to temporarily suspend all tours and services at the Cu Lan Village tourist area.
