96.79 percent of samples meet micro-biological standard only.
Many water samples failed to meet standard of Clo, pH, Amoni, Coliform and E.Coli.
Specifically, out of 16 samples taken from reservoirs, three of them meet the standards. Of 21 samples taken from wells in districts 12, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Thu Duc, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi and Hoc Mon, just six of them satisfied the standards.
Inspectors also took samples from water supplier with designed capability of under 1,000 cubic meter a day, just half of samples is acceptable for daily use. Similarly, four water samples of 22 in Can Gio District reached the requirements.
Especially, of 1,072 samples taken from condominiums in the city, 569 samples failed to meet standards and 40 failed micro-biological standard.
The Department warned city dwellers to use fresh water for their health. People should boil water before having it.
Local administrations should persuade people to use tape water, not to exploit underground water any longer.
