At the meeting, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Vo Van Minh listened to a report on the local socio-economic situation and reviewed proposals aimed at addressing bottlenecks and facilitating development.

Leaders of Nha Be Commune reported that the locality is currently facing numerous bottlenecks, particularly in transport infrastructure. At present, the commune has only four main inter-regional routes, all of which are operating beyond capacity, significantly constraining socio-economic development.

The commune proposed that the city prioritize investment in six key transport projects to enhance connectivity and expand urban space, including the construction of phase 2 of the Vinh Phuoc–Cay Kho route, from Nguyen Huu Tho Street to the boundary with Binh Hung Commune; the extended Kho C elevated road; the western parallel road to Le Van Luong Street, from Rach Dia Bridge to Vinh Phuoc–Cay Kho Street; the extended Kho B elevated road, from Huynh Tan Phat Street to Nguyen Binh roundabout; and the expansion of Nguyen Binh Street, from Huynh Tan Phat Street to Cay Kho Bridge as well as Pham Huu Lau Street, including sections from Nguyen Huu Tho Street to Phuoc Long Bridge and from Le Van Luong Street to the boundary of the Nhon Duc–Phuoc Kien New Urban Area project.

Nha Be Commune also proposed the formulation of a river-based economic development scheme, aiming to better harness the locality’s waterways for sustainable growth.

In addition, the commune called on the city to continue prioritizing financial resources to expedite the relocation of houses along canals and rivers, thereby improving living conditions and urban environmental quality. It also recommended allowing more flexible use of the existing resettlement land fund to accommodate households subject to relocation.

Speaking at the working session, Mr. Vo Van Minh commended the efforts of the Nha Be Commune Party Committee, particularly in planning work and in determining priority order for transport projects. He requested the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to promptly consider and approve in principle the commune’s proposals, thereby enabling the implementation of planning activities as a foundation for subsequent steps.

Regarding key transport projects, he agreed with the priority list proposed by the commune. He noted that Nha Be still lacks sufficient east–west transport corridors, while major inter-regional routes have gradually taken shape. Therefore, it is necessary to expedite the development of these corridors to create new growth drivers and boost local socio-economic development.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Vo Van Minh also urged the commune to further specify each component of the river-based economic development scheme. Concerning the relocation of houses along canals and rivers, the city will work closely with the commune to identify strategic investors, rehabilitate canal-side landscapes, and implement on-site resettlement solutions.
