More than 330 companies from many countries have registered to take part in the 7th Vietnam International Precision Engineering, Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition and Conference in early July, the organizers announced Tuesday.

The event, shortly called MTA Vietnam 2010, will be held July 6-9 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7.

A total of 336 companies, with 83% being foreign ones, will showcase their products and technology at the four-day event, co-organized by Singapore Exhibition Services Pte. Ltd. and Vietnam’s VCCI Exhibition Service Co.

The number is 43% higher than that at last year’s MTA Vietnam, according to the organizers.

William Lim from Singapore Exhibition Services, project director for MTA Vietnam, said at Tuesday’s press briefing in HCM City that the foreign exhibitors come from 23 countries and territories around the world.

He said visitors to this year’s show will get to see the latest offerings from Italy at the new Italian Pavilion. It is joined by returning international pavilions from Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK.

Popular brands at the show include such famous ones as Amada, Tornos, TRUMPF, Nikon, Yamazen, Mitutoyo, Konica Minolta, Guehring and Makino, he said.

Isamu Aono, chief executive of Japan’s Yamazen Corporation, said, “Yamazen considers Vietnam an important market. We have reshuffled our two Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices this year, and will establish a corporation in the country later.

“We expect that expansion of our presence in Vietnam would boost our sales in the country,” he added.
