Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 29 asked the southern province of Dong Nai to complete the handover of cleared ground for the first-stage construction of Long Thanh international airport by the end of this first quarter.
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), on the afternoon of December 18, announced that it had decided to cancel the bid package “Construction and equipment installation for the passenger terminal” at Long Thanh International Airport.
The construction project of Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province is running, leading to significant price increases in land regardless of its use purpose. The precise identification of land use type, therefore, directly influences the right of local residents during land clearance compensation as well as trading.
To keep Long Thanh International Airport project on schedule, the Government has established an inter-disciplinary working team of officials from the Ministries of Transport, and Construction and a deputy minister of transport will visit the construction site weekly to push the pace of the project.
As planned, the construction project of Ring Belt No.3., which connects HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An, will be submitted to the National Assembly (NA) for ratification by the Government on June 6. If the project is approved, it will be an important driving force in the development of the southern key economic region.
According to the commitment of the leader of Dong Nai People's Committee to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, the province would hand over the entire site of the Long Thanh Airport construction project phase 1 in May 2022; however, the above progress has not been realized.
Regarding the main tasks and solutions in the coming time, the Government said that, with the development of the domestic and international situation, the implementation of the goals and tasks of the 2022 plan, especially the economic growth target of between 6 percent - 6.5 percent is a huge challenge.

The project of Long Thanh International Airport, also known as Long Thanh Airport in Long Thanh District in Dong Nai Province, is a national key project approved by the Government for construction in phase 1 with an investment of over VND109.111 billion. Up to now, Dong Nai Province has handed over 1,285 hectares of land out of 1,810 ha to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (AVC) to carry out the construction of the main categories of the project.
To build Long Thanh International Airport, Long Thanh District People's Committee has approved the compensation and support plan for 5,464 cases out of 5,541 households and individuals, with an area of more than 2,300 out of 2,900 hectares of land and more than 1,900 ha of land used by organizations.
