Looking for a quick holiday getaway? Look no further than the Mekong Delta.

The recent opening of the Can Tho Bridge has fortunately made travel to the delta quicker, easier and more comfortable. And conveniently, many tour outfits operate very near the new bridge, offering sightseeing boat tours of the bridge, coupled with performances of traditional Vietnamese folk music, a kind of mish-mash of old and new Vietnam.
Riverbanks near the bridge are often filled at night with tourists enjoying buffet feasts, flower garlands and colorful lanterns at various night festivals hosted by local travel companies.
Eco-tourism zones Phu Sa and My Khanh on the outskirts of Can Tho are offering special holiday programming and they provide rooms for VND250,000-VND400,000. Visitors can camp at My Khanh and enjoy the area’s special foods and drinks.
Vinh Long province’s most attractive travel destination is the Vinh Sang Farming Tourist Center, where visitors can ride ostriches and have a look at the natural breeding of rare southern birds, several of which are endangered.
Moreover, tours of local mangrove forests, oyster fields and Khmer pagodas are very popular during the holiday season.
