HCMC to build seven reservoirs to tackle inundation

The Ho Chi Minh City Steering Center of the Urban Flood Control Program  and related agencies evaluated the effectiveness of the reservoir proposing in building seven underground reservoirs using Japanese Cross-Wave technology yesterday.

The construction will start now to 2020. Specifically, a reservoir in Hoang Van Thu Park in Tan Binh District could accommodate 5,000 cubic meters of rainwater.
Moreover, a pumping station with capacity of 2,000 cubic meters an hour and 39 culverts will be built here to curb inundation for streets Truong Son, Tran Quoc Hoang, Phan Dinh Giot and Phan Thuc Duyen.
The 20,000 cubic meter second underground reservoir, a pumping station with capacity of 4,000 cubic meters an hour and 35 culverts will be built in Flower Village Park to reduce flood for streets Nguyen Van Khoi, Le Van Tho, Pham Van Chieu in Go Vap District.
Five other underground reservoirs and pumping stations will be built in a park in residential block in Tran Thien Chanh Street in district 10 ; in Phan Xich Long Street in Phu Nhuan District, in crossroad Le Van Sy – Nguyen Trong Tuyen in Tan Binh District; in a Park in Tan Cang Street and in streets Dien Bien Phu – Nguyen Huu Canh in Binh Thanh District; in the Ho Chi Minh City Technology University’s soccer stadium in Ly Thuong Kiet Street in District 10.
The Ho Chi Minh City Steering Center of the Urban Flood Control Program urged people’s committees in district 10, Go Vap, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Tan Binh and managers of Technology University to give opinions to the steering center this month to submit to the municipal People’s Committee.
