The HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) held a special concert marking the 22nd anniversary of its first performance on September 9, 1994.
Solo violinist of the French National Symphony Orchestra, Nguyen Huu Khoi Nam and artists of the HBSO performed Camille Sain-Saens’ Concerto for Violin in B minor, Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor and Carnival Overture, op. 92. under the baton of Maestro Mer. A. Tran Vuong Thach.
Nguyen Huu Khoi Nam has become a member of the French National Symphony Orchestra since 1997. Together with the Impresa Quartet, he came in first place at the Luteceva FNAPEC violin competition in Paris.
HBSO was established in 1993. Its first concert was directed by Professor and People’s Artist Ta Bon, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Minh Cam, Meritorious Artist Vu Viet Cuong, People’s Artist Tran Kim Quy and Meritorious Artist Tran Phu on September 9 which was chosen to be the anniversary day of HBSO.
After 20 years of establishment, the theater has gathered professional artists in the fields of symphony orchestra, opera and ballet. The company has presented to music lovers opera and ballet, such as The Magic Flute, oratorios Creation and Messiah, ballets Nutcracker, Cinderella, Coppelia, Carmen, and other symphonic works by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Haydn.
HBSO has currently held three regular shows on the 9th, 19th and 29th of month with the participation of local and international artists.
