Goods supply abundant, prices stable ahead of Tet

She has been checking supplies and prices at Ben Thanh Market and some major firms that supply essential items along with Huynh Thi Nhan, deputy secretary of the city Party Committee and other officials.
 
Supply at wholesale markets is more than 50 percent higher than on normal days, while prices of many items like meat, eggs and processed goods are 7-20 percent lower than during Tet last year.
 
Producers have also said that there is a plentiful supply of goods for Tet, which falls on February 14 this year, and that prices would remain stable.
                                                                          
Food company Vissan has pork stocks comfortably in excess of expected demand on February 12 and 13.
 
It has also stockpiled 3,500 tons of beef and 200 tons of various processed foods to guard against any possible market volatility.
 
The company’s general director, Bui Duy Duc, promised to reduce the price of pork by VND1,000 per kilogram on New Year’s Eve on February 13.
