At the program, authorities disseminated regulations under the Fisheries Law and the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard, along with information related to efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. They encouraged boat owners, captains and fishermen to comply with the law, refrain from illegal fishing in foreign waters, and properly maintain and operate vessel monitoring systems as required.
Fishermen attending the program received national flags and signed commitments not to violate IUU regulations. Fisheries Surveillance Squadron No. 4 also presented 40 gift packages to families of policy beneficiaries and fishermen facing difficulties, while providing medical examinations, health consultations and free medicines.
In Phuoc Hoi Ward, Lam Dong Province, fisheries surveillance officers presented national flags, personal life jackets and flashlights, and distributed leaflets, handbooks and legal materials to fishermen from 10 fishing vessels at La Gi Fishing Port. The activities aimed to raise fishermen's awareness and responsibility in conducting fishing activities in compliance with regulations.
The Fisheries Surveillance Squadron No. 4 said it would continue to step up legal education and dissemination, accompany and support fishermen facing difficulties and risks at sea, and help them feel secure in heading offshore, maintaining their presence at sea and developing their livelihoods lawfully.
