First quarter exports 1.2 million tons of rice

Vietnam exported 1.2 million tons of rice worth US$ 529.1 million in the first quarter this year, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

Over 583,000 tons was delivered in March with US$ 256.1 million in profit, a decrease of 15.4 percent in volume and 17 percent in value over the same period last year. Export price reduced US$ 7.7 per ton.

China is the country’s largest export of rice for the last two years followed by the Philippines. The Philippines recently invited bids to purchase 800,000 tons of rice from Vietnam and Thailand.
