At the packaging sector’s meeting in Ho Chi Minh lately, chairman Sang said that during ten years from 2006 to 2016, the local packaging industry had grown both in the scale and quantity of newly established companies.
2,000 enterprises have been established in the country. Of which, the plastic packaging sector has grown fastest with rate of 15 percent.
The most outstanding fact is that a FDI company has sold packaging paper to foreign countries. For years, Vietnam had sold finished paper such as tissue or toilet paper to Cuba and processed for some other easy markets.
Vinapas said that packaging paper is expected to be major item for the packaging industry’s export in the future when many projects will be put into operation.
It is scheduled that in 2017, the industry will have additional 1.56 million tons of packaging paper when all factories work at full capacity helping the sector to achieve 3 million tons of products a year. However, half of enterprises are FDI companies.
