Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee yesterday asked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to build embankment system along Ha Thanh River to protect residents in the coastal district Can Gio.
The embankment system aimed at preventing rising sea water level will be built in Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town
Additionally, more trees must be planted in Thanh An island commune and across Can Gio district. The Department of Transport must liaise with related agencies to expand the district’s ferry system connecting Can Gio district with southern provinces of Long An and Ba Ria-Vung Tau as well as a ferry route connecting Thanh An island commune with other communes.
Moreover, fresh water reservoirs were placed in Thanh An commune for resident’s daily activities. In addition, the department must work out a plan to encroach Theu River to expand residential block in Thanh An island commune.
People’s Committee in Can Gio district was assigned to conceive a project to facilitate inhabitants’ living condition in island commune who will contribute to the society’s socioeconomic growth and protect the country’s sovereignty. Furthermore, the district administration must build shelter from storm.
