City opens new hi-tech facility in Thong Nhat Hospital

A new hi-tech treatment facility in Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City was inaugurated yesterday with the participation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, leaders of the Ministry of Health and Ho Chi Minh City.

The facility is a part of the hospital upgrading project, aiming to make it a leading health-care institution in the region. The facility was built with new examination rooms and 500 more beds at a total cost of more than VND493 billion (US$23 million), raising the hospital's capacity to 1,200 beds. The facility will  to raise more beds for the hospital to ensure one patient on one bed.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated managers, medical workers and staffs’ efforts in taking care of people’s health during 40 past years. Until now, the facility and personnel develop more and more patients flock to the hospital.

It deserves to be one of leading hospital in the South Vietnam. The PM also urged the city's leaders and healthcare managers to attempt to ease the overloading at large hospitals, in tandem with enhancing service quality by improving facilities and improving staff capabilities to meet patients’ treatment demand in the time ahead.

Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Duc Cong, said that the hospital had implemented high techniques to treat many complicated cases and save more critical heath condition patients.
