A cold front has slammed into some northern mountainous areas of Vietnam this morning and forecast to spread to other parts of the north and the north central region today, said National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.
Being affected by the cold snap, chilly rain has scattered some places in provinces from the northeastern region to Thanh Hoa province.
The waters off Nghe An to Thua Thien-Hue provinces have been rough with strong northeast winds and high waves.
On January 21-22, the cold front will intensify in the northern and north central regions causing chilly rain over wide areas. Mountainous provinces might see ice and snow.
