Belgium, Vietnam sign many trade agreements

The Consulate General of Belgium in Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference on March 17 to summarise the activities of the Belgian trade delegation’s visit to Vietnam from March 11-16.

During the visit, Belgian and Vietnamese enterprises signed contracts and memorandum of understanding for 37 projects on finance, science, transport, infrastructure development, water management, environment, green technology, education, food technology and healthcare.

Other important agreements included dredging and developing seaports projects between Vietnam’s Vinamarine and Belgium's Rent-A-Port Group; purchase of small satellite between Belgium's Spacebe Group and Vietnam’s Academy of Science and Technology (VAST); treatment of waste between Belgian Balteau Company and Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco).

A trade delegation led by Jean-Claude Marcourt, Vice-President of the Wallonia Region in Belgium, visited Linh Trung Industrial Zone 3 in Tay Ninh Province.

Belgian company Sopura S. A. also signed an agreement with Vietnamese firm Sepzone-Linh Trung for investment in Linh Trung Industrial Zone 3. Sopura S.A. will invest US$2 million in building a manufacturing unit for sterilizing agents used in the food and beverage industry.
