Artists Present Vietnamese Culture At International Festivals

A 70-member team from the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra (HBSO) will perform at the Asia Orchestra Week 2008 in Tokyo this week.

They will present to the Japanese audience, classical masterpieces including Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2; Brahms’s Symphony No.2; and the symphony Ky Uc Dong Khoi (memoirs of the General Uprising) composed by Vo Dang Tin, manger of the orchestra in 1982.

Pianist Bich Tra will join the orchestra under the band of conductor Tran Vuong Thach at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall on October 3.

Also performing at the festival will be the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra of China and Busan Philharmonic Orchestra from Korea.

The orchestra previously presented their items to local music lovers at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on September 29.

Meanwhile 19 singers and dancers of the Youth Theater will participate in the 10th Asia Art Festival in China being held from September 29 to October 9, said Truong Nhuan, deputy director of the theater.

The Vietnamese artists: Le Hung, Trong Thuy, Duc Lien, Hong Ky, Luu Thien Huong, Hoai Phuong and Hai Yen will present special performances like “Yellow apricot blossoms”, “Forest Lullaby” and “Seeking Friends”.

The Asia Art Festival is held every two years and gathers art troupes from all Asian countries. This year the festival will see the participation of 30 troupes.

The 10th Asia Arts Festival is being held in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Twenty Asian countries and regions are participating in the 13-day festival that features live performances, films, exhibitions and a trade fair.
