The injured people received first aid on board and then medical checks at Charles De Gaulle airport near Paris after the landing at 7:15 am (local time), the airline said in Hanoi via a statement.

Six passengers and three crew members were then hospitalized in Paris for treatment, Vietnam Airlines said.

The carrier added the injuries were not severe and five of the nine were discharged from hospital on the same day.

The VN535 flight departed Hanoi Tuesday night. There were a total of 222 passengers and 15 crew members on board.

The airline’s statement said the injured passengers had not been wearing seatbelts, and the injured crew were on duty.

A ground service firm under Air France was checking the plane Wednesday to ensure safety for its return to Hanoi.
