An earthquake occurred in the area of Thuan Chau district in Son La province at 1:17 pm on January 16, reported the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center of the Institute of Geophysics.
The earthquake was measured around 3, 6 on the Richter scale with its epicenter location at 12 kilometers deep underground. It was located at 21, 502 degrees north latitude and 103,857 degree east longitude in the area of Thuan Chau district.
Currently, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center of the Institute of Geophysics continues keeping a close watch on the earthquake.
Earlier, several earthquakes occurred in the area. On July 19, three consecutive earthquakes hit the area of Muong La district. Accordingly, the first earthquake was measured at 3, 2 on the Richter scale, the second reached at 4, 3 on the Richter scale, and the third earthquake was 3, 5 on the Richter scale.
