Young local residents and university students came out in full force to support a tree planting project to fortify the Saigon River embankment in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.
Over 300 students from universities along with young local residents planted 750 trees along the Xuyen Tam Canal in Ward 26 of Binh Thanh District.
The aim was to meet the objectives of a project to plant 500,000 trees to fortify the Saigon River embankment on “Young people Protect Environment Day” on October 9 and the national ‘Vietnam Youth Union’s Day’ on October 15.
Over 100 youth also planted trees along the canals in Ward 28 in the same district.
While 100 students joined hands with young local residents to remove garbage and water hyacinth from the 750m Mon Canal in Hiep Binh Chanh Ward of Thu Duc District early Sunday morning.
