Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rebounded the second day on August 26, however, trading was rather muted and dull as investors were still cautious.
The shares of 295 companies and five closed-end funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange emerged 0.69 percent, or 2.76 points, to close at 404.41 points.
Among the benchmark members, there were 111 gainers, 99 losers, while 90 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse was a little changed over the previous day as around 29.43 million shares changed hands at a value of VND472.67 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, was the most active share by volume with 2.11 million shares traded.
Ho Chi Minh City-based Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) followed with 1.68 million shares changing hands.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) came in third with 1.11 million shares traded.
Thuan An Wood Processing Joint Stock Company (GTA) edged up the third day, building up 4.82 percent to close at VND8,700.
Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) and South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) leaped forward 4.76 percent to VND13,200 and VND17,600 respectively.
Everpia Vietnam Joint Stock Company (EVE) strengthened 4.71 percent to VND31,100.
Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company (DLG) descended 8.11 percent to close at VND23,800. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders by shares at a ratio of 10:1.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) dumped 5 percent to trade at VND1,900.
Thu Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company (TDW) retreated 4.88 percent to VND7,800.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north made a contrast move, losing 0.72 percent, or 0.5 points, to finish at 69.25 points. Trading on the northern floor fell by 25 percent in volume and 22.74 percent in value over the previous day as more than 30.15 million shares changed hands at a value of nearly VND346 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares rallied 0.26 percent, or 0.08 points, to 30.77 points. A total of 214,360 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.81 billion as of 1:55 pm local time.
