The gauge of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange added up 0.56 per cent, or 2.51 points, to close at 447.44 points, with 127 gainers, 112 losers, and 71 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse improved by 48 per cent in volume, and 58 per cent in value over the previous trading session as 91.16 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.43 trillion.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) topped the list of most active shares in volume with 4.53 million shares changing hands.

Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank (EIB) tailed after with 3.29 million shares.

Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) followed with 2.87 million shares traded.

Petroleum Industrial & Civil Construction Joint Stock Company (PXI), Chuong Duong Beverages Joint Stock Company (SCD), and Investment and Trading of Real Estate Joint Stock Company (ITC) both accelerated 5 per cent to close at VND6,300, VND12,600 and VND10,500 respectively.

Binh Dinh Minerals Joint Stock Company (BMC) and Post & Telecommunications Investment And Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC) enhanced 4.95 per cent to close at VND53,000 and VND10,600 respectively.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) gained 4.92 per cent to close at VND6,400.

NBB Investment Corporation (NBB) and Saigon Beverages Joint Stock Company (TRI) plunged 5 per cent to close at VND38,000 and VND1,900 respectively.

Saigon Fuel Joint Stock Company (SFC) shed 4.98 per cent to close at VND19,100.

Ben Thanh Trading & Service Joint Stock Company (BTT) shrank 4.78 per cent to close at VND21,900.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – grew 4.16 points, or 0.82 per cent, to end at 511.51. Among its 30 members, 21 stocks advanced, 6 retreated and 3 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north contracted 0.17 per cent, or 0.13 points, to close at 74.69 points, with 100 winners, 139 losers, and 83 stocks treading water. More than 89.27 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND845.91 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares closed at 34.85 points, unchanged as of the previous day. A total of 183,495 shares changed hands at VND1.16 billion.
