Viva Macau briefly halts flights to Vietnam

Viva Macau Airlines has suspended its flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City till April 1, saying the flight delay and cancellations caused by inability to reach agreement with the sole fuel supplier in Macau.

The low-cost carrier said in a statement seen late Mar. 29 that “our Air Operator Certificate was revoked without any prior notice.”

It said the termination of AOC affected flights to destinations including Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. A total of 33 flights have been cancelled, affecting a total of 4,739 passengers.

Viva Macau said it has been providing refunds to affected passengers. It also said no agreement could be reached with the fuel supplier.

The airline has set up a hotline at 853-28718880 or 853-28718883 for enquiries.

In Vietnam, TransViet Group is the general sales agent of Viva Macau. TransViet has set up hotlines for enquiries at (08) 38242123 in Ho Chi Minh City and (04) 22606688 in Hanoi.

Viva Macau had been operating daily service to HCM City and three weekly flights to Hanoi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays before the suspension.
