The 2010 Vietnam International Piano Contest aiming at discovering and supporting talented young classical musicians at home and foreign countries will be held for the first time in Hanoi from September 5 to 13.

60 contestants, aged between 10-23, from 10 countries around the world will play works of world-renowned composers namely Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, Frederic Chopin, Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, L. Beethoven, J. Haydn; F. Kuhlau and others.
The famous Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son will act as the competition’s Honorary Chairman and Artistic Director. The jury includes distinguished professors and musicians from Vietnam, Russia, Austria, Japan, South Korea.
The competition is organized by the Vietnam National Academy of Music and Center for Support and Development of Young Talents with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Information and Communication.
The contest also celebrates the 1000th Anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the 200th Anniversary of birth of Polish composer Frederyk Chopin, and is expected to be held every two years.
