The 8th Vietnamese Poetry Day will be held in Hanoi on the 13th – 15th days of the first lunar month (on February 26 to 28).

The main ceremony, which is a part of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long – Hanoi, will take place on February 28 in Van Mieu (Temple of Literature), said poet Huu Thinh, chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association.
The event includes a day of translated poetry with attendance of foreign translators in the Russian Cultural Center on February 26 and a celebration of prayers on February 27 for the souls of poets who sacrificed their life for their country during the two resistance wars.
There is also a procession of the sacred flame from the Thuong Temple, which is dedicated to the Hung Kings.
In honor of poets, Van Mieu will be decorated with a “forest of poems” with each tree carrying a poem representing a city or a province in the country.
Vietnamese Poetry Day will be also be celebrated at various events around the country.
HCMC’s eighth annual Vietnamese Poetry Day themed “The south turns toward Thang Long” opened at the municipal Opera House on February 24.
