At 18 years of age, Dan entered movie business with the role of Camille, an adopted child of a French woman (played by Catherine Deneuve) in “Indochine”. The film was directed by Régis Warginer.
After 12 years, she comes back and affirms her talent by being awarded the “Most Promising Actress” at the 31st César Award with “De battre mon Coeur s’est arrêté” (Also known as “The Beat That My Heart Skipped”, English title).
“De battre mon Coeur s’est arrêté”, directed by Jacqques Audiard, won eight prizes at the national film festival of France, including two important prizes “Best Film” and “Best Director”.
The César Award of Academy of French Arts and Movies is compared with American Oscar Award. The nationally televised award ceremony is usually held in the Théatre du Châtelet in Paris each February.

The film tells the story of Thomas Seyr (Romain Duris), a French 28-year-old estate broker who usually feels the torment between his duties that his father imposed on him and his long abandoned passion for piano-playing.
Miao Lin (Pham Linh Dan), a Chinese immigrated piano teacher who does not speak French, gave lessons to Thomas with body language and musical emotions. She revised his implicit passion for piano-playing.
Pham Linh Dan was born in 1974, moved to France with her family in 1975. She appeared in “Indochine”, “The Gamblers”, “Jamilla” and “The Beat That My Heart Skipped”.
She studied commerce, but was still attracted by movies. She went to U.S to study acting. Now, Dan lives in England.
