The Ministry of Science and Technology held an awards ceremony to honour 96 outstanding enterprises with the National Quality 2011 Award, and two businesses with the Global Performance Excellence Award 2011, at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 26.
Out of the 96 enterprises that were awarded, 11 received the National Quality Gold Award and 85 received the Silver Award.
Meanwhile, the Minh Long Company and the Robot Investment Joint Stock Company received the Global Performance Excellence Award 2011 from the Asia Pacific Quality Organisation.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Deputy Prime Minister, said the National Quality Awards played an important role in improving the competitiveness of products and services, especially in exports.
The year 2011 was a difficult year for both the world and for Vietnam’s economy. Nonetheless, Vietnamese enterprises still made great achievements and continued to increase and improve their production and quality of products, he said.
Deputy PM Nhan congratulated the 98 businesses for winning the awards and said the awards will offer an opportunity to promote their brands and sharpen their competitiveness in the international arena and greatly benefit the country’s international integration efforts.
The annual awards aim to help businesses develop their brands, improve their competitiveness in the country’s international integration and socio-economic development programme, and promote Vietnamese products and services.
So far, since 1996, 1,399 enterprises have received the National Award and the Global Performance Excellence Award.
