Viet Nam defeated China’s Nankai University 3-0 in the International Women’s Volleyball Tournament-VTV Cup on Tuesday, earning a berth in the semifinals.

Hosts Viet Nam beat Nankai in three games 25-14, 25-19 and 25-12. The Vietnamese women had played Nankai earlier at training sessions in China, but they had never won.
It was the second victory in a row for the host team in the annual tournament, staged this year in northern Vietnam's Vinh Phuc province.
Vietnam had also just swept Indonesia 3-0 on Monday. Indonesia has not fared well as of late as they lost to Belarus Tuesday 3-1.
The final round for this group (group B) will be between Viet Nam and Belarus as well as Nankai University vs. Indonesia on Wednesday. As Viet Nam has already secured a semi-final berth, the other ticket will belong to either Belarus or Nankai.
In Group A, China’s Sichuan also qualified for the semifinals after defeating Sri Lanka 3-0 on Tuesday. Thai Juniors also defeated Ukraine’s Khacov University with the same score. The second ticket in Group A will go to either the Thais or Khacov, but with Thailand having the advantage of playing a weaker Sri Lankan team on Wednesday, while Khacov meet the powerful Sichuan.
