Vice Secretary of HCMC Party Committee visits green summer soldiers

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, vice secretary of the Party Committee in Ho Chi Minh City, visited volunteer students who are taking part in the Green Summer Campaign in the Mekong delta province of Tra Vinh, on August 7.

She led a delegation to visit the students, most of who are from the University of Foreign Languages and Information in Cau Ke District in HCMC.

The ‘green summer soldiers’ as they are called will conduct several
activities like teaching English, reviewing lessons, organizing children's playgrounds, planting trees and building dykes to help local people from July 15 to August 10.

In addition, the green summer soldiers will also contribute money to build one house for the disabled in Dong Dien Hamlet in Ninh Thoi Commune of Cau Ke District.

In Cang Long District, the delegation attended the festival for children held by the green summer soldiers from the University of Economics and Law in Ho Chi Minh City, for nearly 100 primary school children of An Truong School in An Truong Commune.

On this occasion, besides presenting gifts to the green summer   soldiers, the delegation also awarded 30 scholarships along with notebooks, textbooks and VND 300,000 to pupils of An Truong Primary School.

The delegation also visited and presented gifts to heroic mother Tran Thi Loi in An Truong Commune in Cang Long District.

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, reminded the student volunteers to continue to implement the proposed plans, while maintaining their emotions with the local people so that “when staying, people love and when leaving, people remember.”

She said that local people are always impressed by what green summer soldiers do during the campaign.

She expressed the desire that youth volunteers from HCMC must continue to promote enthusiasm, and contribute to building public works in Tra Vinh.

On the morning of August 7, the University of Economics and Law organized the admission ceremony to the Communist Party for four Green Summer soldiers working in the campaign in Long Thoi. The ceremony took place in the People's Committee hall of Long Thoi Commune in Nha Be District in HCMC.

These newly recruited members are outstanding students who have contributed much to the campaign.
