To serve construction of the Thu Thiem Tunnel crossing beneath the Saigon River, all waterway traffic has been prohibited from traveling at certain times through the My Canh area in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1.

According to the Maritime Safety Company II, no vessels will be allowed to travel from 9:30pm to 6:30am from now until April 27.
For the remaining time each day, all boats will be required to travel under the close supervision of waterway traffic officers in the area.
Thu Thiem Tunnel’s second section was installed and connected with the first section under the river April 6.
The first section was successfully put in place on March 8.
Two remaining tunnel sections will be towed into place and installed in May and June.
The three-lane Thu Thiem Tunnel linking HCMC’s districts 1 and 2 is slated to open to traffic next year, allowing vehicles to travel at 60 kilometers per hour.
