Toyota Concert 2016 to present Russian classical music

The “Toyota Concert 2016” will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from August 5-11.

The “Toyota Concert 2016” will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from August 5-11.

The event is expected to bring Vietnamese music lovers wonderful moments, and immerse audiences in emotional lyrical classical melodies of the 19th century.

Audiences will have chance to enjoy Russian classical melodies with famous works from the motherland of world's outstanding composers, such as the father of Russian classical music Glinka, Rachmaninov, and Tchaikovsky.

Under the baton of the Japanese talented conductor Honna Tetsuji, performances will take place at Hanoi Opera House on August 5-6; and at Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on August 10-11. This year Toyota Concert Tour welcomes the first-time presence of piano soloist Vu Ngoc Linh, who has earned several awards including the first prize in the Piano and Orchestra competition in New Jersey in 2004 and the second prize by the Music Teachers’ Association of New Jersey and the US in 2005.

Solo pianist Vu Ngoc Linh was born in 1982. He started learning piano from 6 years old. Linh studied in Moscow and the US. He has participated in piano recitals in many countries and performed with several symphony orchestras from USA, Russia, and Vietnam. He is now a teacher in the Piano faculty at the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

The concert is organized by Toyota Vietnam Foundation with the support of Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO). All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Toyota Vietnam Foundation to fund scholarships for talented young musicians in schools across the country.

Over the past 18 years, Toyota Concert Tour has successfully organized 58 night concerts, moving the heart of 34,500 audiences. The Toyota Concert has become one of the most warmly welcomed and highly appreciated music events, contributing to popularize this academic music to more and more music lovers in Vietnam.
