Each message DA CAM sent to 1409 will donate VND18,000 (US$0.85) for the victims.
On the occasion, President of VAVA Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Van Rinh called for contribution of all people in the country joining in the program to release pain for those exposed to Agent Orange.
At the launching ceremony, the association also introduced the program ambassador, teacher Chu Quang Duc – an victim of Agent Orange who overcome the fate to become a teacher.
In addition to sending text-message through the portal, the association also called for donation by cash through its bank account.
The amount will be used for raising, treating, providing medications to agent orange victims. Moreover, the sum will be used for paying vocational training repairing houses for these victims,
Annually, since 2011 the association has organized the text-massage program to support Agent Orange victims, said Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Van Rinh. Total donation in seven years was over VND17.6 billion ($766,670 ).
The president said the donation not only manifests the love of the community to Agent Orange victims but also makes people in the world understand the consequence of the chemical the US troop has used in the war in Vietnam.
