Long Tet holidays caused February Industrial Production Index (IPI) drop 19.2 percent against the previous month. However it still increased 7 percent over the same period last year, reported the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.

In the first two months this year, the northern province of Thai Nguyen saw IPI rocket up to 578.8 percent over the same period last year as Samsung Electric Thai Nguyen Plant has come into operation and boosted production.
It hiked 4.7-16.9 percent in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.
Industrial products seeing the index increase include cell phone, TV, automobiles, steel, seafood feed, processed seafood, leather shoes, cement and electricity.
