Tet cultural activities at Hanoi’s Museum of Ethnology

A Tet Lunar New Year Program, filled with cultural activities will take place at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi on January 28-29.

The event will include a series of exciting cultural activities such as traditional music performances, folk games and a food fair.

Visitors will have a chance to hear ‘Xoan’ singing from the ancient land of Phu Tho, which has entered the world list as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of Urgent Protection. There will also be dances and folk games of ethnic groups including Cao Lan, H’mong, Ede, Thai, Pa Then, Dao, Nung, Tay and Kinh.

Participants will also take photographs in traditional costumes of ethnic minority groups.

Children can take part in making ‘To He’ (traditional toy figurines made from glutinous rice powder and shaped into tiny figures of dragons, roses, animals, people), and also drawing and painting activities.

Meanwhile their parents will learn how to make Vietnamese traditional cakes for Tet.
