Several roads including Chau Van Liem, 3 Thang 2 and Hong Bang in District 5 and 11 were submerged under floodwaters.

The drainage system in the above areas should have released water into the Tan Hoa – Lo Gom Canal. However, the drains are either too shallow or narrow to allow the water to flow out into the canal.

The downpour along with strong winds caused a tree in Ward 12 of District 10 to fall on the cables of a telecom company bringing down with it an electric pole in front of a house on Hoa Hung Street.

The house roof was damaged whilst the traffic came to a standstill in the area. However, the authorities were soon present to assess the situation.
