Spring Flower Festival kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City

The Spring Flower Festival 2010, named “Viet Nam hoa” (Flowering Vietnam) opened at Tao Dan Park, Ho Chi Minh City on February 8.

The festival is the biggest in the park so far with 8,000 objects from more than 800 Vietnamese and foreign artisans and flower clubs on display.

Displays at the festival include flowers, bonsais, precious stone and wood sculptures many displayed for the first time in Vietnam. There is also a huge stage with singing and dancing performances.

Speaking at the opening, Vice Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai, said he appreciated the hard work by the festival Management Board.

On the occasion, Ho Chi Minh City Greenery and Park Company was granted the third-class Labor Medal for its achievements as organizer of the festival from 1981 to 2009 and for contributing to the nation’s development.

The festival will last until February 21.
