Seven singers Minh Thu, Ha Anh Tuan, Phuong Linh, Hoang Hai, Anh Khoa, Ngoc Anh and Mai Trang received the most votes from the board of examiners and audiences in the first final round of the Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star Rendezvous) music contest ending on July 22 at Hai Ba Trung Indoor Sports Stadium in Ha Noi.
The Sao Mai Diem Hen music contest was first organized by Viet Nam Television in 2004 and achieved many successes. It is an occasion for young talented singers to show up.
Sao Mai Diem Hen 2006 lasts three months with four tournaments and 60 contestants chosen from 350 applicants. After two weeks’ audition, 12 singers continued to take part in the first final round starting on June 24.
During the audition they took a training course with the instructions of Thai experts. To be selected into the next round, these contestants had to sing songs of various genres: Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and Dance.
According to Ms. Huyen Thanh, Deputy Chief of Art Performance of Vietnam Television, a member of the organizing board, Sao Mai Diem Hen 2006 has created good conditions for young talented singers to take part in the audition round. “We really don’t want to miss any talented singers. This also serves as an encouragement to their spirit,” she added.
These seven singers will continue to compete in the final for four consecutive weeks. Two winners will be chosen to take part in an advanced music course in Thailand, which will be offered as the prizes for the winners.
