Quang Ngai proposes Philippines contact for fishing boats to anchor during storm

The People’s Committee of Quang Ngai province yesterday issued an urgent dispatch to the National Committee for Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about assistance for fishing boats and fishermen from the province to dock in the territorial waters of the Philippines to avoid typhoon Nakri.

According to a brief report of the Border Guard Command of Quang Ngai province, six vessels of Quang Ngai carrying a total of 260 fishermen were fishing near the tropical storm. So the province suggested permission for them to enter Luzon Island of the Philippines to avoid the natural disaster. 

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, the eye of typhoon Nakri was located at around 13.5 degrees north latitude and 116.4 degrees east longitude, at about 320 kilometers from the northeastern part of the Southwest Cay islet of the Spratly Islands with the maximum winds near the center gusted level 8-11.

In the next 72- 96 hours, the dangerous zone will move toward the west- northwest with the rapid speed of 10- 15 kilometers an hour.

By 1pm November 10, the tropical storm will move in the territorial waters from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan.
