Price-related violations increase in HCMC

There were 2,415 price-related violation cases reported in Ho Chi Minh City in the first half of the year, up by 589 cases in the same period last year, according to the HCMC Market Management Department.

The department conducted a total of 2,475 inspections, 564 more than the same period last year.
 
The department penalized 2,409 violators with a total fine of over VND60.4 billion, a year-on-year rise of 65.59 percent.
 
As many as 674 shops were found violating price-related regulations, up by 445 compared to the same period in 2010.
 
The violations were seen in foods, medicines, construction materials, consumer goods, machines and spare parts.
 
The department reported that the sale of fake goods in markets, trade centers and on the streets has not reduced noticeably.
 
Most fake commodities are illegally imported consumer goods such as watches, glasses, bags, mobile phones, clothes, footwear and cosmetics.
 
The department confiscated and destroyed fake goods worth over VND9.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 98.45 percent.
