President Truong Tan Sang visits Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province

State President Truong Tan Sang led a senior delegation of provincial leaders on morning of June 28 for a working visit to the coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau to check on the international sea port SP-PSA and CMIT (Cai Mep), Posco Company Ltd. and the management board of several industrial parks in the province.

According to Tran Minh Sanh, chairman of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province,   the implementation of socio-economic development plans in the province during the first six months of 2012 have run into some difficulties, but in certain service sectors such as transport, sea ports, tourism, there has been considerable growth.

The grant welfare policy in the province has shown positive results in   medical education and training, sports and culture, as well as in poverty reduction and job creation programs.

Anti-inflation measures taken by the Government continue to be taken seriously, commodity prices are stable, even the prices of some goods that saw a decline after the reduction in price of gasoline and oil, Mr. Sanh said.

Agriculture, fisheries maintain stable growth rates, surpassing the target resolution of the Provincial People's Council.

Total investments in the last six months of this year have continued to grow and are estimated at VND6,478 billion, up by 42.1 percent over the same period last year. Due to the impact of global economic recession, in the first 6 months, 1,046 businesses declared solvency, and 655 companies had already shut down in 2011, Mr. Sanh added.

President Sang expressed his concern on social security problems and said that the banking system should solve the problem of fast loans to help businesses overcome difficulties and boost production and prevent economic recession.

The President reminded local authorities about the plan to apply science and technology to improve the quality of agricultural products and reach the target of a new rural model plan and ensure a happy prosperous life for people in rural areas.

President Sang stressed that the Government is doing its best to solve difficulties and problems for local businesses and foreign investors, including the creation of better legal, social and competitive environment and opportunities for further business development.

The President also visited the 171 Naval Brigade base in the province, and expressed his happiness at the way officers and soldiers were successfully guarding the sea and air territories of the country.
