This is the second simulation training room in Vietnam, following the successful use of the Practice and Simulation Room for Para-clinical Examination and Anesthesiology of Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi .
The Simulation Training Room for Anesthesiology contains a series of cutting edge equipment to perform the tasks of low flow anesthesia, target controlled infusion, balanced anesthesia, lung mobilization in general anesthesia, advanced blood volume index.
Specially, the system of anesthesia machines includes a basic anesthesia device suitable for the common task in grassroots hospitals.
The room is expected to create a a professional environment for training students with modern equipment, which greatly enhances their level as well as helps them to quickly become familiar with new technologies in anesthesiology.
The room is able to accommodate annual short-term and long-term train sessions for 400 students, residents, and specialists to help them update their knowledge in emergency treatment, safe practice, and effective use of medical equipment.
At the grand opening ceremony, Associate Professor cum Doctor Nguyen Hoang Bac, Director of the university medical center said that this type of simulation training is a necessity in major medical universities like the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
This is a valuable opportunity for medical students to practice and exchange knowledge with specialists about all para-clinical situations, ensuring the safety for patients and thus improving the quality of patient care-taking, he added.
The Vietnamese medical human resources are facing a significant shortage of high-leveled anesthesia specialists. According to statistics of the Vietnam Society of Anesthesiologists, there are about 1,000 anesthesiologists nationwide, accounting for the rate of 1/96.491 inhabitants, much lower than the number in Singapore (1/24.748 people) and the Philippines (1/28.118 people).
