Another giant shopping mall opens today in Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s southern economic and commercial hub.
The Vincom Center Shopping Mall includes seven stories of retail shops, fashion boutiques, household appliance and home décor stores, entertainment venues and restaurants.

The mall is also home to 17 stories of offices for rent and five levels of serviced apartments at the top. The mall features a bank and a movie theater.
The building, 26 stories plus 6 basements, includes three underground parking levels and three levels of underground retail.
Located at 70-72 Ly Tu Trong Street in downtown, the complex features a small green park out front as well as windows made of a type of hi-tech glass that saves energy by reducing the need for air-conditioners.
In addition, a solar energy system provides heated water for the entire building.
The complex took 22 months to construct and is Vincom’s first major property project in HCMC.
More than 90 percent of the Vincom Center Shopping Mall is occupied under long-term leases, according to CB Richard Ellis Vietnam (CBRE), Vincom’s marketer.
About 70 percent of the retailers at the mall begin operating today with special grand opening promotion programs, CBRE said.
Hanoi-based Vincom Joint Stock Company, the building’s developer, is one of Vietnam’s largest property companies.
