Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said Vietnam welcomed over 12.8 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of this year, up 10.8 percent annually, and served 66 million domestic visitors, earning VND504 trillion (US$21.74 billion ) from tourism services.
Vietnam was also honoured with four major prizes at the 26th edition of the World Travel Awards 2019 for Asia-Pacific, including the top culinary destination in Asia 2019. The country was also nominated for the world’s top culinary destination title.
Nearly 60 stalls from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Gia Lai, Thua Thien-Hue and Khanh Hoa introduced local specialties to tourists.
The festival will last till October 21.
