The number of motorbikes imported into Vietnam increased while the number of imported cars decreased in the first half of November, according to the General Customs Office (GCO).

GCO reported that 10,273 motorbikes worth US$11.47 million were imported under completely built units (CBU), 23 percent and 18.5 percent higher than last month in volume and value terms.

During the period, the number of imported CBU cars was 4,597, while the total import revenue was US$79.6 million. This represents a decrease of 4 percent and 15.8 percent in volume and value compared to October.

Since early this year, the country has imported 41,570 cars worth US$763.6 million, 28.1 percent and 16.8 percent lower year on year in terms of volume and value.

Meanwhile, car parts saw a 13.9 percent increase in import revenue since early this year, with the total revenue of US$1.56 billion.

In the first half of November alone, the revenue rose by 2 percent.
