Taking part in this final round were the teams from leading universities in Vietnam, consisting of the University of Engineering and Technology (a member of the Vietnam National University – Hanoi), the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, the Military Technical Academy, Lac Hong University, the University of Science (a member of the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City), the University of Telecommunications, Nha Trang University, along with two international universities, namely Greenwich University (from England), and the Far Eastern Federal University (from Russia).
The organization board designed the race so that several famous landscape in Vietnam were included and the final destination would be the Silicon Valley in the US. This is also the place that winners of the contest will spend time to learn new knowledge and technologies at the end of the contest.
All participants had to make good use of the latest technologies such as image processing and artificial intelligence (AI) to program their cars to optimize the route while successfully overcoming any obstacles, maintaining the highest speed possible.
After passing through two tough yet exciting racing rounds, the team MTA –R4F from the Military Technical Academy was named the champion of the contest, receiving a prize with the total value of VND1.2 billion (approx. $51,300), including a one-week trip to the US to experience the newest technologies, a cash prize of VND15 million ($641), the Automotive scholarship worth VND20 million ($855) per member and a doctorate scholarship on AI worth VND700 million ($30,000) for the most excellent person.
This contest of FPT Group has become an internationally acknowledged technological playground. It is expected that after finishing the scholarship in other countries, these winners will come back to contribute to the national development.
More than 1,000 speculators at the Tay Ho Center for Culture – Information – Sports in Hanoi cheered for contestants, along with hundreds of thousands of viewers watching the live broadcast via VTV2 and Fanpage Digital Race.
