The Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 was opened in Can Tho city on June 29, with the attendance of Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Le Hong Anh, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh and representatives of the Steering Committee of the west southern, northwestern and Central Highlands region.
Dressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said that the Mekong Delta has touched an increase of tourism sector in the previous times, contributing to promote revenue retention, create employment, improve economic growth rate in the region and the country as well.
In order to develop the Mekong's tourism into a key economic sector, the authorities have to strengthen the regional tourism potential promotion at home and abroad.
The 2015 Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week is considered as a favorable chance, helping develop tourism in the region, added the Deputy Prime Minister.
The 2015 Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week is also the largest cultural and tourism event, displaying over 1, 000 domestic and international booths and it is scheduled to run untill July 3, 2015.
